Turboflotor 1000?

I have one and it is awesome!!!! I also might be selling a used one for $100 with return pump if you're interested. I bought it used...but spotless...now I'm not sure if I'll be starting the second tank that I was planning. Let me know... jldamico@yahoo.com

Hey guys, as long as you were on the topic...
I just set up my 125 gallon tank and filled it with DI/RO water yesterday. When I turn on the skimmer (new Turboflotor 1000 in sump), it makes really coarse looking bubbles.
I set it up with the Rio 2100 that came with it, and changed the impeller for the venturi wheel like it said. There were actually two wheels that came with the pump, one that looked like needle impellers and one that looked the same but with little branches on each of the needles. I put the one with the 'extra' stuff on it 'cause it looked maybe like a new and improved version. Of course the directions that came with the skimmer were extremely brief to say the least.
Do you think the bubbles look like this because its just pure water right now? I have never run a skimmer before, but they always look like they have fine bubbles. Thats the point right? I would be a royal pain to pull it out of the sump and mess with it at the point.
What do you think?

Thanks JJ. I have so many questions as I am getting started. What would I do without this place? My husband and I just laugh at all the work and $$ and stare into our tank full of nothing but water so far...

I have a t-1000 that I have been running for about 6 months now, and I am completely satisfied. It makes about 11/2 cups full of green bilge water each week.
That the directions are brief is an understatement; however if you can get past that , it seems to be smooth sailing.
I have noticed that when I change water, it seem to make a lot of clear effluent (translucent green) at the pace of a quart per hour. If I dump it back in ...it continues for weeks ( I only did that once) but if I dump it ("but its really not that dirty!") it "cycles" in about eight hours. Then I am back to about 11/2 cups of putrid stuff per week.
Yes, I use tap water, and I suppose my "break in" is the skimer doing what it is supposed to do. But that is what my t-1000 does and I would reccomend it to others.
In the sump it is very quiet, and you cannot see it except when you want to.
