Has anyone used one of these? I was thinking about getting one for my 125 gal reef tank.

Mr. Salty, if I remember correctly you have a 125 gal tank. Weren't you worried about buying an oversized skimmer for your tank? Unless I'm mistaken the SR9 is rated from 300-600 gal. I'm just curious. Thanks for the post btw, I appreciate it.

Yes it is large for my tank, but I have a LARGE bio load.Plus once the nitrates are ZERO,I plan on running the skimmer less.Maybe only at night.I also now have about 150gallons or more total in the whole setup.Counting the 10 gallon refugium, the sump, and the 5 gallons that this skimmer added to the setup.

I would'nt worry about turning it off Salty, most skimmers are underpowered and overrated for tank size. I think you made a good choice.

Thanks for the input guys. I think with the reef the bio load should be fairly light so I may look for something not too far above 125 maybe the SR6 would be a better fit (and a litle cheaper then the 9 too).
Thanks again,
Brent

I think you will be happy with the SR6. The only thing I didn't like about mine is the ammount of bubbles produced by the rio 1700 pump.So I drilled a 1/4" hole in the lid and ran a rigid air line with a wooden air stone to the bottom of the reaction chamber.I hooked this up to a powerfull(but cheap) pump to make more bubbles. This simple modification improved it's operation 100%.
