how can i turn a dead sand to live sand ???and how many inchesh are the ideal depth ??? should i pour some live sand over the dead sand or the live rock will do it for me ... i need live sand and i need it NOW . help plz gentelmen and ladies .

3" or more, or as deep as your willing to make it, remember the substrate will dissolve alittle over time.
Your live rock will turn your dead sand into live sand over time, you can also get a cup of live sand from a LFS that you know is a responsible store, but it will take time there is no quick fix for turning dead sand into live sand.
This site has a good calculator under there live rack and sand to determine how much sand you will need.

What seems to be overlooked here is that a live sand bed is just that, it’s alive and that is predicated on the nutrients you supply to keep it alive.

Ok I have a question. I have coarse crushed coral for a substraight. Is it posable to make it live by mixing live sand in it? Will reef keepers be able to live in it? Or is the coarse factor going to limit me.

I've heard from several posters here that they build up nitrates.
But it shouldnt really limit you any on corals.
It will become live just like everything else after the initial cylce is complete

Course crushed coral isn't good for snails, and even mixing it with live sand is not going to make it any better for them. The same can be said for any sand sifting fish, or sand burrowing fish such as a goby or jawfish and many types of wrasses.
Crushed coral tends to capture much more waste, and since snails really can't be put with it, the waste doesn't get properly removed and nitrates build up. If you can, swap out the crushed coral, in the long run, you'll be much happier and have less issues.
