two day old tank - fish dying

i think i need help. my fish are like, totally dying. ever since i put them in, they've been doing this "gluck-gluck" looking squirmy thing. i've only had my tank setup for two days. this is what i've started out with: I have a 15 gallon glass tank that i bought from my grandma on tuesday. i wanted to go saltwater, so i put in some rock-salt that i found in the garage. i measured it out like everyone says to. don't worry i used purified water - aquafina in fact. ok. so, i'm not sure about this live rock thing, so i might have made my first mistake - is it ok to use a granite rock? it's clean, i sprayed it with a power nozzle. i'm not sure about sand or coral, i don't believe in that stuff. anyways, the guppies i bought at the store are not looking good, like i said, they are doing all this weird stuff. help me.

you could start off by sticking your head in the tank for about 10 minutes...at that point i dont think we would have to see your idiotic self on here again

Hmm, where to start. I'm not sure whether this is someone's idea of a joke or someone actually needing help. Ah well...better safe than sorry.
You used rocksalt? As in...not salt designed for saltwater tanks? That right there can be a problem. The water most recommended for aquariums is RO/DI (found at local Wal-Marts, I believe). Where did you get this granite rock? It could've been contaminated, and washing it off with tap water may not've done much. And by the sounds of it, I highly doubt your tank has undergone any sort of cycle..which may contribute to the fish acting funny. I thought guppies were freshwater fish.

RO/DI = Reverse Osmosis Deionization water; basically water that's pure and healthy for fish.
And no, salt is not "all the same." You need the specific salt made for saltwater aquariums. It has special additives that mimick real ocean water. It also doesn't contain phosphates or nitrates (well, it shouldn't anyway), thus making the water much safer for the fish.
I highly recommend that you return those fish immediately.

Has to be a joke. No one is that stupid
I know some real stupid people. If this is for real they need more help than we can provide.

OK, i think i screwed up. so i will just run the tank under the sink for a while, until the cloudiness clears. while i do this, can someone tell me what temperature is right not to kill the little fishies? i'll be right back.

You can thank yourself for your lack of research or your idea of a bad joke. Have a nice day. :)

Trolls looking to create attention for themselves are never welcome....granted this may indeed be a troll. But....if not...I'd urge you to research for information on establishing a marine aquarium....information on the "cycle" to be sprcific. I'd also urge you to gather information on the marine grade salts designed for aquatic use...rock salt does not qualify.
In addition...flames and personal attacks are never tolerated...some of the comments above could have been kept to yourself...it is very possible the post is legit and in that case instead of providing useful information some of you were simply rude!!!
So...this thread is closed......
