I had a royal gramma and watchman goby in my 20 gal qt for 4 and 5 days. Today at 8am everything was great I came home at 10am and the gramma was hiding the watchman was acting strange more active than normal. I came home again at noon and the watchman was died and the gramma was on his way. By the 6pm tonight I had to put him out of misery. The water parameters are:
amonnia= 0.0
nitrites= 0
nitrates= 10
ph= 8.0
salanity= 1.024
Thanks for any help!!!

Heavy breathing????
The pH might be too low, but that isnt all that bad of a reading. What do you feed them?
Have you added anything else other than them in the past week?
What is the temp in your tank?
What brand kits are you using for your tests?
What type of hydrometer?

I feed shrimp and scallops. The water temp is 80. Glass hydrometer. I think the test kits are Aquarium Pharmacutical, never had a problem with the test kits with all 4 tanks. I added 2 scarlet hermits from SWF Iput the rest of the 18 scarlets in my reef and fo tank with Know problems in those tanks. Iam just stumped on this one. Thanks

The gramma was the only fish that was heavy breathing from the time I noticed there was a problem with him. The watchman was normal before he died.

All I know to recommend is test your water for everything you can and then take a sample immediately to your LFS and have the same tests done to make sure yours is accurate.
Also, did you pour any of the water that they hermits were shipped in into your DT?

Know water from the bags I took them straight out of my reef. I wouldnt trust the LFS around here to do any test. Iam pretty confident the test results are right I use them on my other tanks weekly and have had know problems. I have a clown goby in there and the hermits and one snail and they are fine. If the clown goby lives through the 6 week qt time then I will just chaulk it up to weak fish that couldnt make another acclimation point. If the goby dies than Iam back to square one again, I will just keep doing daily water test for the rest of the week and see what happens. Thanks for your help
