two for one? Hitchhiker help...

I recently got a few Mexican Turbos and later noticed that one has a little friend with him. It's the little disk-shaped shell near the opening of the snail (at the top of the pic). I hope you can see him in the image (sorry, just starting to figure out how to take pics). It sorta looks like 1/2 of a bivalve, like a clam, but it certainly isn't. I'm not sure what this little critter is, but it hasn't moved since arriving. I don't even know if it is alive, really. So... anyone know what this is? Is it OK to keep it in my tank?

Its hard to tell, but it looks like a barnacle. Which a lot of turbo snails pick up :) If its alive its good to have there, barnacles are filter feeders.. if its dead.. then its not gonna cause the snail any grief or sadness.. so no worries either way.

Nope, not a barnacle. Another one has a dead barnacle on it, so I can compare them. This has no visible opening like a barnacle would have... Seeing as how it has never moved, I'm going to guess that it's dead anyway -- whatever it is/was.
