two tangs??

on sunday i went to all of the fish stores in town here, and was trying to find out whether or not i could put a couple of tangs together in my tank. I got quit a few different responses and wanted to know what you guys think?? one told me mixing tangs is just fine, another guy told me you can do it as long as they dont have very similar shapes and colors, and the goofy response i got was from the guy i usually trust the most, his stores the best and he is very smart and succesfull at keeping his fish. he told me you can put 3,4,10 etc.. tangs together, but never 2. had me and my dad kinda stumped. what do you guys think??

We keep two tangs together without any problems... however, they are of two different body shapes and colors.

2 (maybe 3 if a smaller one like a kole) in a 125 should be ok. Just make sure to get ones of different color and shape. Also make sure to search a bit about them to add the friendliest first and most aggressive last. HTH

to add to his question i have a 55 now and i have a regal or hippo or blue tang, and im wanting to get a powder brown as well. Do you guys think these two will go ok together?

No--your tank is too small for 2 tangs, the regal will eventually be to big by itself. The only tang I would recommend would be a kole instead of the regal you have. HTH

I have seen at my lfs like 7 tangs in a tank and like 4 of them all be naso tangs. What they told me is odd numbers are good and above 4 dosen't matter. but they also told me i can't have two kinds of clowns and i'm having no problem. Just don't let one get established then add another or they will fight in my opioion. BUt on second thought i used to work at a pet store and they put two yellow tangs together in a very small tank and they were fine too. This isn't rocket science (unfortunenlty) there is no right or wrong answer my opionion says you should try it and keep an eye on your fish
