U-tube vs CPR overflow

I'm planning on setting up a sumpfugium and need an overflow box for my 55 gal. So... there seems to be two general designs regarding overflow boxes: The U-tube siphon and the CPR siphon with air-pump. Any opinons? Pros vs cons?
How loud are they?
It appears as though Squidd prefers the U-tube design (from what I can tell), and he seems to be a bit of a guru around here.

I used a U-tube overfow for 10+ years, never had a problem. I have a buddy who ownes a LFS. While out of town for a week I took care of his store. He had a CPR overflow on one of his frag tanks. That POC failed twice in one week.

I've used "U" tubes since 92 and haven't had any problems.....A friend gave me a CPR for a QT tank and hate the thing.....The myth about it being continous is odd.....I had more problems with that dumb thing.....Needless to say someone bought in on ----

I had the u-tube for four years and never had a problem. Lost power and it stopped and when power came one started right back up.....Deffinitly get the u-tube it will be one less worry.

Thanks for your input. I guess that's sort of what I already thought. Nevertheless, there's nothing like a testimonial to solidify your opinon. Whenever there's a whole lot of a product on the auction site, you know that there is probably a design problem. Thanks again.
