uber noob question

So I've got my 29g cube all set up, racks built for a mini fuge and about half a tank of RO/DI water (getting the other 15g tomorrow
) sitting ready to go.
I just plugged in the lights for the first time and everything works great. I have three LEDs, a 36w Atinic Blue light and a 36w 10,000K Daylight.
My question is how and when should I run this combination of lights. My guess is the two 36w lights run during the day and just the LEDs at night? Thanks for the help!

you would be correct. I dont remember how exactly the lights are wired on that tank, but if the actinic and daylights are separate, most people use actinic to simulate dawn, then about an hour or so later the daylights come on, and then at night the daylights go off and the actinics simulate dusk for about another hour. Then the actinics go off and your led's simulate moonlight. However, if your tank's actinics and daylights are wired together, no biggie, just use the daylight and actinic during the day and at night the led's. Hope this answered your question.

just out of curosity, how many hours a day do you run your day lights? I forget.

on my cube i have 2 timers set up, i rec u buy timers one for ur act and one for your day... have the acts come on first about 30 minutes to an hour befor the daylights cut on and when the day is going and they have been on for a few hours then do the same again but this time have the daylights cut off first 30 minutes to an hour befor the act... that way ur fish get used to your lighting cycle i keep my lights on for about 8 hours total and the daylights stay on for about 7 hours. hope that makes sense ha lost myself with this wording.

yea, that helps. I have a timer for my daylights, but when I moved some of the tabs got messed up and I couldn't seem to figure it out (I got it 3 yrs ago) so I kinda forgot how long they should be on.
Thanks for the hep!!
