Some one hacked my visa debit card and got about 300 bucks. Luckly we have fraud protection and they called us as soon as the charges hit. I had to fill out some papers at the bank, but it will be a week to 10 days before I get my grocery money back.
Luckly my husband keeps most of our money in another account.

Sorry to hear that......What do you have to wait 10 days for? if it is confirmed fraud, shouldn't you get the funds back immediately??

I hear you...I had shoulder surgery on October 19th, was planning on going back to work on October 26th...but decided to wait until my follow up appointment on the 27th.
Woke up on the 26th to take my dogs out and found that some little piece(s) of crap had smashed my drivers side window out of my car....I guess the joke was on them, as they only got a handful of pennies, a few CD cases (not CD's, but CD cases...the CD's were in my CD wallet in the back seat), and my dad's garage door opener (which works on his garage...nearly 30 minutes away).
The little idiots left behind over 100 CD's, well over $1000 in golf clubs in the cargo area of my Jeep, and all of my quarters, dimes, and nickels that were left in my center console under my CD cases (which they took).
Get an education, get a job, and EARN what you get...what is wrong with the morals in our country??? A little work ethic goes a LONG way!!!

I had a car stolen years ago. I predicted Chuey and Louie would take the few tools, the broken stereo and leave the 350.00 Beckman digital multi meter sitting on the front seat because they didn't know what it was. Car was recovered, tools were gone as was the stereo that didn't work. I was wrong about the meter though, they left it on the front floor board.

I got broken into a couple years ago...actually it will be 2 yrs on the 20th. I can't tell you how nervous I was for a very long time. Still am, though not as intense. Signed up for an alarm system that very day. Thanks, I have another monthly expense now.
You have to wonder indeed what is going on in this country, crime is rampant. Some of the worst crimes surpassing a measly burglary-theft. How many kids are being taken and killed, prostituted, etc. You can't even go to work anymore without fearing workplace violence, can't go to school without worrying about a mass-murderer on the loose.
What is going on?? And, more important, how do we deal with it?

being educated and having a concealed weapons permit ,with the apporpriate gun courses and carrying a personal firearm. My childhood home was broken into 2 times over the 20 years we lived there, i believe if we were in town when these events occured, the theifs would not have lived...and i would not be too upset about it. Anyone who has the audacity to steal from someone who works had should think about losing their life. Unfortuently now, i do not live in a right to shoot state anymore so you have to fear for you life in order to disharge your weapon...

IMO the media sensationalizes these types of stories, while at the same time cultivating an atmosphere that encourages taking the path of least resistance.
Interesting conundrum.

When I lived in Chicago, I had my car broken in to.
All they took was a $25 TAPE player. How they broke in...smashed out my rear passenger door vent window, which cost me over $350, to fix. Also had a crack head (literally) neighbor, try and break into my house one night...till he was met with my 110lb snarling dog and a shotgun, in my hand.
In my opinion, break ins and people stealing things are never going to stop. It's a way of life and something we have to deal with. God forbid it happen or any one of us (or our families) get hurt, but it's a pretty common thing.
These days, if someone happens to get past my dog (which is unlikely), I tend to revert back to my special forces military days and keep an H&K .45, with a Surefire light rail, in a lock box next to my bed. Our town (little hick town) is bad about meth heads, break ins, assaults, etc and I don't tolerate any of the three.

Don't put too much faith in the dog. We have had a rash of burglaries in our neighborhood, and when the thieves found a dog, they tasered the poor thing and then helped themselves to the loot.

Just read about the dog that got shot during a break-in. Think it was in Huntington if I remember correctly.

I'd like to see a thief's face if they ran into your snakes
