ugly algae ID

this very ugly algae started to grow and take over my sand bed after i moved around my rocks. how can i get rid of it? and what is it?

Cyanobacteria or Diatoms. Do a search and compare what you have. also looks like you may have a pest anemone on the right side upper left of the picture.

so will it go away? i just read that it comes from adding new rocks or when the nitrogen cycle ends.

my hermits are never on the sand... is there any other way?

New tanks often have a diatom bloom. Not really anything to worry about. If you have a powerhead in the tank point a little flow towards it, not enough to stir the sand, just put some flow across it.
