Alrite, I tried pming mods and emailing them but no dice. And I spent a while trying to decide on where to post this and well I have no idea.
I have been a moderator on a very large forum and am a moderator on a medium size board. And I am just letting you guys know a few things I have noticed since I joined. First the good things, I like how it tells you before you click on the thread if there is an attached file in the thread. I also noticed that threads do not have multiple pages, I’m not sure if it would use up more bandwidth but I think that it is a good idea. Also I for one would not mind donating to the message board I know that many forums have that option, I also know that saltwaterfish which is a large company and can pay for the hosting themselves. It also might not be a bad idea that pictures attached to a thread are deleted after say a year? I don’t know seems like a waste of bandwidth if the thread is not active and the picture is still being hosted. I’m sure it can serve a purpose when some one is searching but it can only help so much.
Thanks
darren

I disagree. While researching my tank I used pics from the board that were 1 to 2 years old as reference when setting up my tank.
The board is not perfect nor are we.:)

It's quite clear why a moderator dosen't want to talk to you! Do you know anything about saltwater? Or is it just bandwidth space???

I have belonged to other forums and have just started to mod for one of them. I find that this forum and the others on Saltwaterfish.com are by far the best I have come across! You get replies very quickly and those old posts are great for doing research on certain topics. And the pictures of the SW tanks that are included in the posts makes me envious. So hats off to everyone and thanks for all the help everyone has given me!

I'd really like to know what the purpose behind this post was.

darren,
as you said, SWF is a large company able to pay for this forum themselves. if you are really intent on donating to them, would you mind donating some money in my name for a cleaner shrimp?

I'm a mod here...I guess....at last I get that huge check once a month.
:D
...not really...we get cash by the bucket full....no checks......:D
Strictly speaking for myself I kind of like the vast archieve of photos and threads. A search here can turn up discussions....and photos...from 4-5 years back. To me thats a good thing....that in part may be why our pic options and pic size options are limited. Saves space for a archieve of old posts and attachments.
Plus we try to keep all commercial aspects out of the discussions....no banners...no ads....no banter about buy from here or buy from there.
I've been around several other forums and personally I like the way things go around here. Strictly hobby related ...if you overlook the personal stuff.
But...I can see how some folks may not like the place....and thats fine too.

Hi Darren!!!
If you'd like to donate to the board just share your experiences with us and we'll all be richer. You could also support the board by ordering from SWF.COM.
I don't believe I have received an e-mail from you, I would have responded.
You can set the number of posts per page in your User CP under 'set options'. There's an option called 'Default Posts per Thread:'.
I'm glad you're here and I hope you enjoy yourself.

just a thought, but i disagree with deleting pics. this board is a veritable congressional library for research. i cant begin to count how many times i have searched for things.
no the board is not perfect, but it sure saved me many times over especially when i first started out!
THANK YOU SWF.COM!!!!!
