just got my top off float switch, ultra life float switch but it will not stick to my sump glass or it will stay on for a short period of time. This is big flood if the float switch falls off , I have a 10 gal top off tank. Have anyone experience this or are there other ways to make it hang on the sump wall for a secure hold .
thanks

One idea would be to drill a small hole in the switch bracket and your sump, then use a plastic screw to attach it. If its around th ewater line you can use a small gasket to seal the hole.

thanks , good idea but its glass and it only comes with suctioncup,
so I thing i will mount it to a piece of plexglass . i will add another piece to it so it can slide up and down then put a screw hole thru it , bend a lip over the tank edge.
thanks

I avoided using the suction cups on my float switch. Instead, I used an idea that I read here:
I took a 'clip on the edge of the tank' style maxi-jet powerhead hanger, and fastened the float switch to it using plastic cable ties (zip ties). This is a super easy modification, is not permanemt, and is totally adjustable as to height. I have had zero problems with this set-up so far. The hanger is just clipped to the side of my sump. I can move it aside if I need to. I can tip it sideways a little if I want to trigger it to turn on for a minute (usually to empty out the last bit of the resevoir tank), then set it straight and its back to normal.
I recommend it. Sorry, I cant remember whos idea this was, but THANKS!
Good Luck.

HEY thanks thats a good Idea, today I bent a piece of 1/4 plexglass to fit over the lip of my sump, which is a 20gal long tank
I used a torch and a table vise in my home shop. then drill to holes in the suction cup and used plastic screws, its not going any where. I called up the company and this guy ron answered the phone , I told him the problem about the poor quality of the suction cup"" well he said what do you want me to do about it!
he said I'm in the hobby so I should make something for it. what Im telling him is for 60.00 you put on a piece of S***** suction cup. If I didn't need this float switch I would send it back addressed up his *******.
thank you for the idea

Another option....the way I use my float switch...I put the white shaft of the float switch in a clothes pin for hanging clothes on the line and then with the pin open to the exact size of the switch, I superglued the pin onto the corner of the sump. The switch can be moved up and down easily inside the clothes pin.
I also did the same thing when I didn't have a sump...used woodworking glue and glued it onto the inside of my canopy.
