underwater catapillars?

hi i bought some LR a couple of weeks ago and i noticed these pink things crawling in and out or the rock,can anyone tell me what they are? the only way i can describe them is that they look like pink catapillers with spikes on help!:confused:

They're probably bristleworm. I wouldn't worry to much about them, it is common to have them in your LR. Don't touch them because the little bristle they have can pook you and it burns and inches.

I would look them up and see if that is what you have. Just do a search on bristleworms.

damn bristleworms have killed the turbo snail,had to buy a nifty little device to catch them before they kill the entire contents of the tank, total count 6 so far

WAIT they did not probably kill it but only ate it since it was dead or dying. they are good aditions and IMHO you should keep them because that they already helped not have decaying animals in your system

Hiya,
What Rubberduck said! Bristleworms only eat dead stuff. That's why they're so good for your tank, they're part of your clean up crew.
Granted, if you find a bristleworm about a foot long...you might want to rethink keeping it ::Grin::

After doing some research on bristleworms everyone says they are pests and should be removed as they eat anemones, gorgonians, mollusks, feather dusters and clams. this is getting very confusing!
