undulated trigger not hungry?

i have an undulated trigger-4.5" in FOLR setup 40 gallon quarantine tank, his tank is 75 gallon species tank being cycled.
he accepts pellet food and frozen brine shrimp ( not as enthusiastic as pellet food whilst feeding on frozen shrimp.
the problem, if it is one, is whilst feeding he will aggressively chomp any food given for the first few seconds ( literally comes to the surface when equip. is turned of for feeding.but after very little food he will go to the bottom of his personally decorated tank and just nibble from this point.
i am feeding veru little due to the current tank size but any ideas on this kind of behaviour with this species, or reccomendations with feeding would be greatly be appreciated.

Hi fugu, with the experience we had with our undulated was he ate anything and everything,but was very shy about eating, try some frozen squid thaw it and put it by his area, try turning out some of the lights if you can, we always feed with are attincs only on, so the tank is a little shadowy.For being such an aggresive fish he was very shy, hope this helps....cya
