well carpets are the hardest to keep. and also you might want to smooth out your ratio of actinic to daylight bulbs i use a 1:1 ratio 6:2 kindof seems overpowering to me.

Same thing happened to mine a while back, It would'nt eat for about 2-3weeks, which it used to eat every other day. I was worried. I did'nt have the proper lighting at the time and thought that was the reasoning but don't really know. Before I got the new lighting its started eating again so I bought some good lighting and its really turning around for the best.
heres a before the lights and after
how long have you had it and how far down is it in your tank?

Viper930 sorry to interupt, but I have asked this question many times, I bought the anemone above at petcoo and said it was a "white carpet anemone" but some people say theres no such thing. Since the purchase of Mh lighting the anemone has changed color and continues to change color.
So what do you think it is? and what color will it end up?? When food hits its tenicles it turns green.

"White" anemones are bad because this would mean it has lost all of its zooxanthellae, which are the symbiotic algea living within the anemone's tissue. This algea gets energy from the light to make sugars for itself and the anemone. No zooxanthellae = no food. Yours looks like it will end up green in a couple weeks.

I had a green carpet for a year. i fed it once a week to week and a half, (1 goldfish) i had it under pc lights. the carpet thrived and grew so big i had to give it to someone with a bigger tank. if it is white maybe it feels it dont need the zooanth whatever cut down on the feeding and do something about those phosphates. hope you dont have any sps ni the tank with detectible phos like that :scared:

Carpets are extremely difficult to keep without strong MH lighting.
