Unhealthy Live Rock?

At the beginning of January i purchased some fiji live rock. I scrubbed everything down and put it in my tank right after putting live sand in. Everything has been going dandy and i've been doing weekly water changes. I've been dosing with liquid iodine, strontium and calcium every couple days. About a week ago, areas on the rocks started turning white. Now today, there are black patches on the white areas. Doesn't the curing process usually finish up around a months time? seeing as how it has been roughly a month, shouldn't these signs have come and gone in early january?
i realize every situation is going to be different, but im freaking out lol... i don't want my $200 purchase to turn into dead base rock!

The areas turning white is most likely coraline algae die off, it will come back. As for the black patches I couldn't tell you without a pic, maybe someone else knows. There is bound to be die off if the rock was out of water for a length of time.

I agree with sigmachris. Some coralline will stress out and turn white and some of it will die off. If you don't have adequate light for coralline algae to live and thrive, then that is what you are going to be seeing. As for the black, check to see if it feels smooth, and if it starts developing thread like structures, it could be cyanobacteria.
Make sure that you do regular water changes and have proper water flow.

well first PLEASE STOP adding additives to the tank you are adding things that can get to toxic levels. IE iodine and stontium
what are you tank readings at right now to see where everything is at please run all tests you have.

Why are you adding supplements? As Mike said, stop adding them. Do a water change with pre-mixed water to dilute the high level of nutrients in the tank. Post your readings.
