Big fat NO from me. Unless Chris from last year's project runway were to design them......

I vote no. I have always believed that this whole thing started based on racial issues. A significant number of kids in the(pc term follows)African-American community embraced the sagging pants hip-hop look as well as the "gangster" look.
It is much easier for the powers that be in public school systems to require wearing of uniforms that to be accused of racism by telling minorities to pull up their britches.
By the way, I am not a fan of public shools for many reasons, the least of which is mandatory uniforms.

I had to wear uniforms through elementary/middle school, and for the last 5 years of school I went to public school. I dont really see why you cant. They were trying to put a uniform thing on the school district and they had a demonstrational video on why not, and their argument was you can hide firearms in your clothes too easy LOL. The part that makes this funny is in the video, they had a guy put as many guns as he can in his pants and shirt, and he ended up fitting like 9-10 guns in there, one of which being a sawed off shotgun.
Blah blah blah, no uniforms!!

If they gave us cookies at breakfast there would be less shootings, if they let us wear what we want (to an extent) there would be less shootings. My point is, kids hate school as it is, why give them another stupid reason to hate it more. I mean we are fortunate to have extracurricular activities that are funded by the school and student council so that the students get a say in what is going on. Most schools around the world don't have these privileges. School uniforms would unite us and give us pride in a group. School uniforms would also limit our ability to express ourselves. There are many pros and cons, but I think that we should leave well enough alone. By the way, I hate the term African-American. I mean what if a colored gentleman from France came to America on vacation or something, he wouldn't be African-American, right? If he was refered to as African-American he would probably be offended because he is being connected to two countries that he has nothing to do with.

Voted no. Had to wear uniforms for two years in a public middle school. All it did was create more problems, when kids didn't wear them, they are sent to IS (internal suspension). You're shooting yourself in the foot, by taking kids out of the classroom, and into some room where you sit and be quiet/most likely take a nap for an entire day. All it did was cause more kids to play hooky.

Yes. Might not make sense to people who don't live in areas with gang problems but eliminating "colors" helps.

I say yes for middle school. That way at least poor kids won't feel too bad about not affording the name brand clothes that the rich kids may be wearing.

call me rebellious but, I don't like being "required" to do anything that takes away simple rights.
And squidward, what's it gonna do to their poor psyche when I drop off my son in a Mercedes?

Ever work a job that required a uniform or had a dress code?

I voted no. I hate uniforms. Even though I've been home schooled for about 4-5 years. I HATE going public schools...

Yes. For the reasons Squidward and Reefraff mentioned. Besides, getting your kid dressed for school would be easy. I know the department stores would vote with an emphatic NO!!!

Kinda agree. I am home schooled but HATE people that dress like that. I dont think there should be uniforms but atleast a dress code. And OMG I hate it when suburb kids dress like thugs and try and act gangster.
