it should be as inportant as a good skimmer you spend say $1000
on fish and invert. what is 400 to keep them safe you dont drive without ins. its the same

maybe someone already brought this up.
During a power outage, you shouldn't need to run everything. Basically keep the water moving especially over the filter media. for instance two hours without lights should not hurt anything. And you could wind up having much more time to backup the powerhead circulating the water for instance.

I just took the APC1400 (New Style) and ran my Iwaki and 1 201 POwer head on my tank for 19 hours..
The new ones have a new Current regulator and a better charging system..
Just thought I would pass that infor on to you...
