I bought some cured live rock at ***** today and it appears to have an unknown anemone on it, which retracts when I disturb it with my net, can someone tell me if its a pest or not?

Hi,
I can't see anything on the rock. Does it look like this?

If so it is Aptasia....a pest anemone. Get some Aptasia X or Joes Juice... Squirt right into the disk while it is out...(don't touch it) will instantly kill it. Whatever you do, do not disturb it by poking at the rock or anything. It will cause it to spawn, and infect the whole tank with the stuff. It spreads like wild fire. It's a very common hitchhiker and is often found on live rock.

Sorry it's hard to take a picture of it because it's the same color as the rock and it's very small, how about this one?

Peppermints are amazing. We had a huge outbreak of aptasia just after we bought our established tank. They worked wonders. No more aptasia!!
