Unlikly to host???

I purchased a Hatian Pink Tip Anemone, and I have one clarkii clownfish. The anemone has been in the tank about 16 hours now and my clown has not really gone in it. He will swim by it and check it out, but not go in. When he swims close to it he swims sort of sideways like he wants to host it. I know pink tips and clowns come from different parts of the ocean, but I had my hopes up because at the LFS almost every clarkii they had was hosting one. eh what do you guys think? How long does it typicaly take? What is some behavior I might see.

I think Clowns hosting anemonies is impossible to predict. I've had a BTA in my tank for a week and my Clowns haven't even looked at it (at least not when I was looking!) From what I've been reading from other posters on this site it could be from hours to months to - I guess it's a possibility - never. :happyfish Just stay tuned and cross your fingers!

I just aquired two true perk clowns. Both Tank raised. I didn't think they'ed host anything. Within two days they both are hosting my Green BTA. I also have a pink tip in the tank but they won't get near it. Some clowns prefer different types of anenomes and won't get near others. The stickey at the beginning of this forum explains a few. Better luck overall has been found with BTA's, I'm not sure about the luck with pink tipped though. Don't give up hope. It is really a hit or miss situation, and it could take quite some time, if it happens at all. Mine like to play around in the green star polyps too.

cool... thanks for all the reply's. I still have my fingers crossed. Maybe when I get home tonight "George" will have himself a new home. Thanks for all the reply's. Was my discription of my clowns behavior common to a clown interested in an anemone?

It took my clown 3 weeks to host with my Hatian Pink Tip Anemone. i all but gave up then one day he was all over it!

Congratz...
now, let him play in it for a few days...then try to stick your finger near it, and you will see just how attached to it he really is...

Ha, My damsel found that out the hard way. George was taking a nap, when the damsel tried to snatch some food floating near by. That didn't go over well with george at all!

Awesome! I'm jealous - mine still haven't began to host. I think I did see them doing a swim-by. They kind of slowly swam past it once, then went back and swam past it again. And now they're again on the opposite side of the tank, hanging out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
