Unusual Fish Pairings!

Hi all, my Hippo tang and saddleback Clown are best friends, "My saddleback clown hates every other fish just about" They are always together and follow each other everywhere in the tank, The hippo even hangs around the anemone "dare i say just about touching the tentacles" waiting for my clown to stir something loose from the anemone then he eats it. Yuck! They are always swimming together and even rubbing up together. Do you think fish feel friendship or is it more instinct, or a symbiotic relashionship? What do you think? Any other unusual fish friends? Thanx!

Ok, this is kind of gross, but when I had my hippo, he was in love with my lawnmower blenny. He would stay real close to the blenny, and when the blenny pooped, the hippo would eat it :scared: . The hippo always stayed real close to blenny waiting for a free meal. I have no idea why he did this seeing him, and all the other fish I had were fed 2 times a day and several different foods!

My tomini tang acts as the "big brother" to my rock beauty angel. The tang swims one way, the angel follows. The tang picks algae off the glass, the angel does too. My tang will swim into the cave, the angel will follow. It's cute to watch the two, yet odd as I have heard many stories about rock beauties being very aggressive towards other fish, mainly constantly picking at their slime coat.....

The best thing i could come up with is that Blue hippo's eat algae, and Lawnmower Blenny's eat hair algae along with other algae so maybe the blue hippo has found out that it tastes like algae and that's why he likes your blenny so much. Thats sooooo gross though.

I no long have the hippo anymore sadly, but when he did this, it would gross me out every time!! I don't know if the lawnmower minded too much lol. But, yea it was one of the grossest things I've seen in my fish tank!

My huge tomatoe clown and my yellow tang LOVE each other.....the tang hangs near the anemone just waiting for the clown to come out and play. If anyone else gets near the anemone, the tomatoe goes after it but she ALMOSt shares her anemone with the tang!

My batfish and unicorn tang always swim together. My batfish only lets my unicorn eat out of the bat's mouth (pieces of macroalgae, strips of seaweed, etc.) When I first got the unicorn, my kole tang and maculosus angel tried harassing him to no end. Each and every time, my batfish would chase them from the unicorn. This allowed the unicorn to settle in nicely.

My female O. clown and a blue chromis are best of friends..they even chase the little male O. clown away so they can be together, I feel bad for him he loves her so and he is never mean to anyone.
