I'm lucky to have a really good fish store close to me. They take wonderful care of their tanks/fish ect.... Everytime I go in theres some one cleaning/attending to the upkeep of ALL the tanks. Unlike the only other saltwater place close to me(use to be good but has gone down hill).
Anyway I picked up two 1+ inch diamond sand gobys, 5 tri-coloured hermit crabs, a red star fish and two black turbo snails to go with the 5 mexican turbos. They'll be getting nassarius snails in two weeks and I plan to go back and get 5 of those, maybe another black turbo or two but I don't want to many big snails. I REALLY wanted to get a blood shrimp but I had all ready spent enough.
As for feeding I do feed three times a day but only small amounts. I see 99% of it eatten in less then a min. I do mix it up between the froozen/seaweed and pellets.

UMMM I think you can have only 1 sandsifting goby per tank.
I googled:
The Diamond Sleeper or Watchman Goby stirs the sand as it sifts through it, straining out food. Its diet should include a variety of live and frozen brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, live black worms, and prepared foods for carnivores.
Characteristics and Compatibility:
This goby digs shallow burrows in the substrate for refuge, which keeps the substrate well oxygenated. Although a goby that is rarely aggressive towards other fishes, it may fight with other same and similar species gobies. Best kept singly or as a mated pair.

Its a large/long 170g tank which gives me a little more play but I can always take one back. The guy did advise I don't get more then the two. I do feed a froozen reef mix but they're getting froozen mysis shrimp soon and I plan on picking that up to get a bit more varity into the diet.
Opps it looks like I said I feed froozen seaweed *lol* No it's a froozen mix and dried seaweed(red) and a algea pellet.

gggggrrrrrrrrrr I woke up to a goby on the floor. Now I have to figure out how it got out of the tank. It could have gotten out the back possibly but then it would have been inside the cabnit still not on the fllor out front.
Of course Hubby buried the back top behind boxes in the basement.

Sorry to hear of the loss...Don't use the back cover, it will keep in heat from the lights. Use egg crate and overlay it with mesh from home depot. They have a fiberglass mesh made for screening...glue it on the egdes of the egg crate after you cut it to size. It won't keep in heat but will keep in the carpet suffers.
170g sounds nice...do you have any pictures?

Well I got the glass out but didn't cover the whole tank. The middle is open and I can't get it right to the sides because of the filters/heaters ect... so there's lots of beathing room, hopefully covered enough that no one gets out. I'll try the mesh when I can get some.
The remaining goby is finally feeling out home today and is busy grabbing mouth fulls of sand and turnning it up. Of course my anonome has now decided to move
I liked it where it was, it settle between two rocks for the night but seems to want to move again.
I posted pics before you can find them by going under my name and going to "find posts by...."
