Think of airstones and large bubbes in the DT as a very very inefficient skimmer...it can cause a nice slick and concentration gradient of nutrient rich water, just FWIW.

Nice looking tank, however, you should remove the bubbler. Air stones are harmful in a saltwater tank.
The negatives of an air stone/bubbler are:
-air can get lodged in a fishes gills
-air stones do not give you gallon per hour turns - like powerheads do
-can cause bubble algae (air bubbles all over your live rock - not the bubble algae emerald crabs eat)
-can cause stress to the fish (popeye)
-cause salt creep which in turn causes irregular salinity/SG
-when bubbles pop the water can get on your lights causing the life off your lights to decline rapidly,
Some periodic air bubbles are not harmful, but constant ones are.

and on top of all that they look ugly and out of place in a saltwater tank.

Well, I wouldn't necessarily say that. Believe it or not, I have actually seen some pretty cool tanks with air bubblers in them. One tank was so nice it almost made me want one.

I guess I should have said, "in my opinion," as looks our totally subjective
I guess it could look neat if done in a tasteful manner.

I'd like to thank you guy's for all the info on bubbles.
I didn't realize they could be so much trouble.
As of today I'm cutting back on bubble time.
No bubbles unless there's a
Party goin on ! ! !
Thanks again for the info
