ok so I am going to make the plunge and start with adding new lighting to my 75FOWLR.
I am looking at a 4 lamp ARO model 4L VHO ballast kit. it comes with everything neccessary except bulbs. mounting brackets, electronic ballast capable of 440w. I am going to run (2)48''VHO Actinic 03 110w by coralife(220 watts total)
(2)48''VHO Daylight-110w(10,000K) by coralife(220 watts total)
so running 440 watts my calculations is about 5.867 watts per gallon. is this enough to maintain most corals? or is my tank too deep, or to keep anything I want, id need MH?
anyone know of any better price than $289.80, 3 day shipped? or anywhere I could look email me at aaronmiller_23@hotmail.com
keep in mind this price is brand new and with a 3 year warranty..
also need to find a decent set up on moonlights, for a good price...

That light set-up sounds very good. You will be able to keep most corals under that lighting, just not SPS corals such as acros.

Ok so I was talking to my buddy, he has a never used 400w 20,000k radium MH bulb, coralview ballast, new spider reflector, mogul sockets, basically mount, plug and play for $200! all i need to do is mount it to my hood, and add (2) T-5 super actinic set up...
Is this a good deal? I have a feeling it is, and i think 200 bucks is more than fair. Anyone know where I could get a good 2 bulb T-5 48" set up pretty cheap?
here is what I plan to do:
disregard the actual bulbs and set up in the pic. the center beam that has the compacts on it is where i will mount the 400 watt MH in the center, then on the outside beam i want to put one T-5 super blue actinic, and on the inside beam i want to put another T-5 super blue actinic, and mount moon leds somewhere in there.. I am going to paint the inside of the hood all white, and mount 4 fans 2 on each side blowing out correct? none blowing in right?

bump....the bulbs in the pic are a VHO set up, and I am not interested in using a VHO set up anymore, I might as well go all out so I dont have to purchase again later...
the center beam that carries the power compacts is where I am going to mount the MH, and the very outside VHOs is where i want to put the T-5, providing that i get a strong enough t-5 set of bulbs combined with the 400 watt MH, that would be enough to house any coral i want right?

Hey there. Do you need that much lighting for a FOWLR? or are you getting these so you can eventually do a reef? I am in the same boat you are in and was told that all I needed was 4 x 65 watt power compact orbit lights for my 75 tank.
Thats a great price though..Can you email me so I can check that out too?
