Got my order today. 2 Actinic VHOs 72" delivered by UPS. Well,I was not home at the time so they left it on the porch. Apparently UPS thinks 6 foot long flouresent bulbs are flexible. The box was leaning against the house with at least a 45 degree bend in it.

I called the company and new ones are on the way. I wonder if UPS even cares. I know they ship lots of packages..but take pride in what you do.BTW not the first....or last time I have recieved dammaged goods from UPS.

Yes, you'd think they could be a little more careful with things. I used to work in a wharehouse and shipped and received from UPS. Sometimes the back of their trucks were horrible looking with stuff all over the place, just a mess. Other drivers had nice clean,stacked trucks. I guess it is a crap shoot on who is handling the package. I hope your next box is straight up and not damaged. Sorry, I know you were all hyped up and now you got to wait some more. Good luck

Why should they care? They have insurance, and so do the companies that send hte items. Anything that gets broke or dies just means another shipment or two for them. NOT THAT I CONDONE THEIR HANDLING OF PACKAGES, CUZ I DONT!

When I bought my Aquapod, the box in came in was covered in signs saying "Do not ship by UPS". I wondered how many they wrecked before they had to blacklist them for shipping glass tanks. It all depends on the workers though, up here UPS is great and Fedex loses my packages. How do you lose a 50 pound bucket of salt in a town this small?

I have a small trucking company that handles Fed Ex and UPS ground loads that are sent by rail and UPS is the absolute worst, we have had containers dropped off of the train that are rolled over by the crane and UPS still tells us to send it to the hub where the packages are to be sorted and delivered. If you saw the trip of your packages from start to finish, you would likely be amazed that anything ground arrives in one piece. Fed Ex isn't wonderful but they seem to have a better handle on their freight from where I sit.
Don't even get me started on DHL, I had ordered my son two baby beared dragons, I saw the truck pull up and started for the door, opening it just as the driver rolled the package clearly marked LIVE ANIMALS INSIDE up the steps kind of like skipping a stone. Not amused.

we ship UPS daily at our fish store, and i'll tell you what, the way they put some boxes in there is insane....you'd think the truck must have rolled over 5 times....stupid people///of course they dont care, its not their packages and they just want to get down with their route.

sadly I don't think ace pet detective movie is much of an stretch. When it comes to package handling.

I ordered a Sequence 7200 pump a year ago. UPS dropped it off before I got there. The box had 2 holes torn in it, so I opened my package not expecting a lot. The mount for the pump was cracked in half. When I called UPS, they said my employee had signed for it and there was nothing they could do. I knew they were full of it, so I called one of the main offices and gave em hell. I called the company I ordered the pump from and they said they would FIX it and send it back. I said I didn't want a fixed pump, I wanted a new pump. So, I get the "new" pump a week later... It's the only system with a bubble issue, go figure. Yeah, we got screwed. Down with UPS and THAT COMPANY!

What surprises me about these companies is that a lot of the time they don't even bother getting signatures anymore. If I was a thief, which I am not, I would just follow the UPS/FedEx driver around town picking up all the packages that he/she leaves at homes. Make out like a bandit. Seems like a bad policy to me. I am surprised this does not backfire on them.

Thanx! Great idea! What am I doing working? Nah, you're right though. I can't believe some if the things they have just left out in nasty weather, not to mention that anybody can come and take it and not even look conspicuous. I think fedex does it too.
And then they are not responsible for the package after that!

they don't need signatures anymore, unless the shipper says they do, or if it goes to a business. the driver leaves a note saying where they left it on their little computer and for residential deliveries that is enough.
