Upside Down Royal Grama

I have a royal Grama that I purchased about two weeks ago that stays upside down all the time. He stays at his hiding plase upside down, swims upside down and even chases and eats food upside down. I am sure he is upside down, his two long fins are pointing up, his fin running down his back with the black dot is on the bottom all the time and his mouth is above his eyes. Has anyone ever seen this and is he going to be ok or will he die sooner or later. Like I said he gets around fine and never misses a meal he just does it all upside down.

ive seen some other kinda fish that swims upside down all the time also. forgot what it was.. never seen a royal gramma that did it though

This is common for most RG's as they naturally stay in caves hovering upside-down.

My neighbors does that all the time, from what I here it is normal for royal grammas.

I had one that did that also. The guy at the LFS said it would. Would also swim on its side before the tank lights came on - I always thought the ambient light coming in from the side made it think the side was the top, so it swam sideways thinking it was upright.:thinking:
