Urchin question (no pics)

i dont know if they are reef safe or not but some one told me that they would eat algae but i dont know if its true or not..good luck

Without a picture, the common name is meaningless, sorry to say.
Not all urchins are reef safe, and some are actually deadly. So I suggest a picture and positive ID before buying
While many urchins eat primarily algae, others may not be so picky, and may consume various soft corals in their paths as well.
