Urchins and electrical power cords ????

Anyone here had a problem with Urchins and the electrical wires coming from the PH's, I have 4 Urchins in my tanks and it seems that 1 or 2 of them love to chew on my electrical cords like cats. I kept having a problem with turning on one of the PH's, it would blow the GFCI, so last night I decided to take it and the other one out and check them out (they are brand new, and not near any LR), I had to pull one of the Urchins off of the cord that was in the water and low and behold it had chewed through the plastic casing and even through some of the wiring, Might explain why I have lost a couple of Tangs this past week (electrocution ?).

Why on earth do you have the wire in the water? You need to get a UGF tube and string it through that, so that nothing with teeth can get to it.

Do other people do this with their wires? I don't have any urchins, although I may soon, or problems with the wires, but was curious.
