urchins

I just added three urchins to my 60gal. I had no idea they moved as much as they do. My concern is food. I have about 25 snails(cerith, narrissa) which I suppose are competeing for the algea. Should I be concerned and if so how can I supplement the food?
Thanks for the help

What kind of urchins are they?
I had one in a 25 gal and did not have enought food for it. Spot feeding I found was tough but it depends on how much live rock you have, make sure your rocks are very secure they can and will move rocks about. They also love that beautiful purple coraline algae on your rocks too.
IMO three is way to many but let the experts give you their opinions.
Good luck.....

it was the three pac combo on this site. 1-pencil, 1-pincushion and 1-purple. I threw in an aglae pellet but it has received no attention. I'm afraid I got over zealous in an attempt to hit their minimum order.

Well.... the pencil urchin gets to a fair size. I had the purple pincushion and they stay from what I know a smaller size. I never had any luck with algae tabs or any kind. You might want to algae sheets and place it near them. I don't know what else to suggest to you. You might want to sell one or two of them, but wait to see what other say about what you should do.

Wow, I cannot believe there has been no other replies to this post. I wish I could be of more help to you. I am new to this hobby as well. I have only had one urchin which was the purple pincushion. But I do know from a friend of mine that has a pencil and it is huge.
I really don't know how to know the size off the site. I am from Canada and cannot order from the site but "I think" when they give the size say example 2-3" fish I think that is the size it will be when it is shipped to you. I don't know for sure though.
Another thing you can do is a search on google and there are lots of other sites that come up regarding what you are looking for and some of them give the full grown size of things.
Also, post the question here. Say you want a particular fish, post the type of fish on the forum and ask what size the fish is when full grown. Lots of info from members as well as the search bar too.
How much live rock do you have in your tank?
