URGENT - PLEASE HELP - I think my Copperband Butterfly may die

I am really worried about my Copperband Butterfly.
I did a waterchange this morning, and took out my live rock to clean under them and re-arrange them for better access.
Shortly after, my Copperband Butterfly started breathing really heavily and leaning against a rock.

He has been that way all day, almost 8 hours at this point. The other fish in the tank are fine.
Do you have any suggestions at this point? Can he be saved?
Thanks.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you, but you might want to move this to the Disease and Treatment thread.... someone might answer you quicker there! I hope someone can help you and you figure out what's wrong!

not alot of info here for people to help with we need parameters tank info etc..
best quess is you stirred up alot of nasty stuff under the rocks, or your waterchange was not prepared correctly. other inhabitants might be hardier that the copperband so dealt with these issues better.
another assumption is that he was ill anyway and these changes today are just a coincidence they happened at the same time.
i would say begin preparing another waterchange in case you have some water quality issue, list your tank info and parameters tank mates and how long have you had this fish if recent addition how was he acclimated so on and on. and then we shall see what the experts on here can do to help.

Wow, you really shouldn't take your rocks out to clean under them, a powerhead or baster is all you should use. Sounds like you disturbed the sand bed, might want to check your water and see if you need to do another water change, butterflies require quality water over most fish and thats why he is reacting first, can you put him in a QT if your water is messed up?

Trinton, How long have you had this butterfly? You have ALOT of posts around. Did you ever get the ok to move the rocks before cleaning the CC? Did you do a water test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph, kh, SG ? What water source did you use? How long did you let the water mix? Did you test the replacement water before doing the change?

He took a ride down the porcelin express last night.
I had to re-arrange my rocks for better access, and in the process I cleaned the CC. Water test is Ph 8.3, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, SG 0.23. I let the water mix overnight. I tested the water before the change, I think it was a bit to cold. That combined with the shock of moving the rock around did him in.
