Hi Buzz,
I bought SeaBuffer and it says it prevents shock as it does it in small incraments. Any good?
So the best thing to do is to test my water every day or so?
Thanks for your help,
Tim.

Well, I can't vouch for that brand, but bringing it up in increments is the way to go. As long as it doesn't jump all at once, it sounds good. But also check your alkalinity. That goes hand in hand with pH.

Yes this raises alkalinity as well.
You may notice my other post, what is the ideal distance between water surface and my 4 T5's im going to be buying?

I am not the person to address lighting setups. I don't know those lights either. My lights are about 6-7 inches over the water. Some go with more distance than that.

Just to try to get a handle on things as they are currently, what are all your testable parameters? Please post them!
Sorry i had to go before, I should be around for awhile this evening, not sure what it is your time though! If you need you can call me anytime, 804-339-2984 and I will be glad to help anyway I can, i know what it is like to need help ASAP!
I am not familiar with your lights, are they Flourecent or no?
Buffer is good in SMALL doses with some break in between, remember that if what you have left in there is alive, it is tolerating your conditions, so slow adjustments, and watch the KH, it may go high and Ca may come down, so test before every dose!!
If your tank water is 9 mo old and you have not done a water change recently, I would say that might be a good idea, get rid of some of the badness, not trying to contradict or give opposite opinions, just did not know the water was that well established prior..
Anyway, keep your chin up, it WILL get better!!
Bill
Hope all is getting better...
