Cash is legal tender for any purchase BUT stores have the right not to accept it.

Oh... ya.... same as the gift cards they were saying weren't accepted. Duh on my part.
No wait... we're probably talking about prepaid ATM cards that are linked with bank accounts. I bet they would accept those because it's traceable. But they probably have fees too. But I wouldn't be all hatin' on someone because they don't have an ATM card.
Even those you can basically sign up for anonymously...

Won't it be easier for this woman to get a debit card like just about everybody else in this country. I guess that would be to easy. Maybe she is looking for easy money like other people in this country. Pathetic
Dood... I just read she's disabled.

Wrong, everybody can get a prepaid debit card. Go to walmart, they have there own debit cards. Anybody and everybody can get them.
Apple states they don't accept 'Gift Cards' or even the Visa Cash Cards you can buy at WalMart. They have to be issued from an actual bank where you have a valid bank account. The card has to have your name on it. As the video stated, they need a way to track the purchaser so they can't buy more than two.

Here's a thought. Why are they so worried about the possibility of them being shipped overseas. "Average Joe" could go in the store with the said prepaid Walmart card, buy it and then ship the technology overseas to a company interested in getting their hands on it. Once it's outside the store they're not going to know where it really ends up til it's there. Also, all the px/bx's sell the Ipad so they're already being shipped all over.
Ntm.... some people don't want anything that resembles a credit card because they want to buy their items responsibly and not abuse the credit system.

Because they haven't been released for sale overseas yet (May 28 for all the big countries). Right now iPads for going for $1,500+ on Bay of E.
They just did the news story here. Apple has officially changed their policy and will now take cash, and to make up for it, gave her a free one.

I'd assume it would be 2 fold, one they want to capture that market. Usually companies that offer major products like this don't like their product to be sold on the secondary market. One they're missing out on the sale. And probably more importantly for them (they are Apple they like to control everything) they don't know who is buying their products. The cash cow for apple with these ipads is going to be the content aspect of it advertising, apps and whatever else they can figure out how to sell on there. So the more information they can insure is accurately captured by their own employees the better.
The other side of that would be customer service, spend 1500 bucks and you're gonna want warrenttee service. Which they have no record of your purchase.

They can send in that little warranty card like comes with other products. But to use the ipad, you have to sign up on Apple's website thingy. Like the itunes for our iphones.
