Used Setup/Good Deal?

I am getting a 55 gallon tank and stand from this lady. It comes with:hot magnum filter,bak pak 2 skimmer, 3 powerheads, 3 heaters, lights, chemicals and test kits, extra heater, extra bulbs, misc. stuff, 2 battery air bubbles, about 100 pounds live rock(covered in coraline algae), some snails and crabs, mated pair of tomato clowns, yellow tang, some other fish, varius coral, and 2 anemones.
All this for 600$. this is a good deal right? do i need any other equipment?

That price isn't bad for a complete setup. What kind of lights does it come with? That will help distinguish between a "not bad" deal and "excellent" deal.

it comes with 1 175 watt metal halide and 2 vhos i think

Sounds like a great deal to me with those lights! MH and VHO combo fixtures are quite pricey.

$600 sounds a little bit pricey for a used 55 gal, even with all of that stuff included. i payed $200 for my first setup which was almost exactly what you described.

comes with about 11 types of corals and a lot of extra supplies. but i think it will do fine

11 types of corals alone would cost around $400
I wish I could find good deals like that around here!

:thinking: not really sure where that figure came from, but im pretty sure i wouldnt pay $600 for it... then again, its not my money, so spend it as you wish!!

im in nc too and i found this tank by looking around here in the classifieds, paper, and putting out advertisements. good luck!

That figure came from an average of around $35 per decent size coral which is about what you'd pay at any LFS around here or online...unless all you want is small stuff or single polyp ricordeas. :notsure:

dude, if that includes everything you listed and everythings in good shape and the livesock is healthy and those lights included, you'd be crazy to turn that down (if you can afford it).
hell, I live close to the NC line. I'd be tempted to drive to NC and get that for myself.
