Distilled water is great for water changes and top off. I know Wal-Mart brand is good to use i've used it for 6 years, but if your using a brand someone hasn't used before run, some test on it, some bottlers don't up hold good quality. Check for NH3, NO3, & PO4. Check for S2O and Cu if you have the test.

I started using distilled water around 1 month ago and so far is giving me good results, but I had to run some tests before I used it in the aquarium.
