using used water for no cycle in QT?

i would like to set up a 20 gal long QT and was wondering if I got some water from water changes and put some cured LR....would I get a cycle?

The rock is going to help you. Used water will have no effect. The biological bacteria colonizes on surfaces, not in the water column.

Are you asking if you add live rock will you be able to cycle ammonia? Or are you asking will you begin to colonize nitrifying bacteria?
In any event the addition of live rock does not guarantee you will have nitrification
