UV Sterilizer always on?

I just got a UV sterilizer.
Do I always leave it on?

if you have a reef, i wouldn't turn it on at all. if it's just a fish tank, i'd leave it on 24/7.

So I guess the answer is leave it on 24/7.

you are killing the stuff you want in the reef, along with very few things you don't want. people think it kills ich. it only kills ich in the water column. ich doesn't stay in the water column very long.

Yes, run it 24/7 on a FO or FOWLR, most companies suggest changing the bulb every year, and cleaning the inside every 3 or 4 monthes.
