uv sterilizer

Hi everyone,
would a uv system control ich problem? i have a tank thats almost a year old now and cannot get rid of ich. about 8 months ago, i had some major ich problem, but has reduced since. my fish are doing okay now... but they do show spots from time to time. this gets pretty annoying!
Hypo and QT is out of the question. it is a reef tank with tons of corals and lr, making it impossible to catch the fish, unless i tear down the tank.

I run a double helix UV sterlizer and have noticed a reduction in disease outbreaks but I have also started doing bi-weekly water changes instead of monthly. That may have aided in disease reduction as well. There's people that swear by them and those that say not to waste money on them. I think it's a personal decision.

Your surviving fish may have developed a limited immunity against the disease. Be careful about adding more fish. Keep feeding garlic. The UV may help to keep the disease in check but will certainly not cure the disease. Some people feel that some of the beneficial life in the water gets killed off by UV (and that may hurt some of the filter feeding corals).
