Hello. just wondering if anyone knows how to make a uv sterilizer? if so could you please tell me how..thanks

Hmmmm... not particularly easy to build..
they have to be made of material that doesn't break down under UV, and they need some stuff that's basically impossible to fabricate without specialized tools (quartz, etc). They also have to be designed very specifically for a certain water flow and must steer the water over the tube in just the right way.
It's one of those deals that's just easier to buy.

i say buy one on e-b#y - i got the 36 watt one and it works plenty good, heck it's actually great for the price on it. come witha pump too. i pump about 200gph through mine ( you could pump more but i wanna kill everything that enter it, and i mean everything !!!

I thought you don't want to kill everything in the water..
Aren't there beneficial microbes, spores, etc. in the water that get killed by UV?

yes there are a lot of good stuff inthe water colum but the amout i kill off in by my uv will not effect my water at all ( have lots of rock and sand , also a dsb in the fuge ) so there is enough 'good' stuff in the rock and sand to take care of the tank. thats y i kill stuff int he water colum, but it's a personal pref thing. some people like uv and some dont. i love them, would never go w/o one
