Will UV sterilizers also kill coraline algae spores? My understanding is they kill just about anything that passes through. Will the addition of a UV aterilizer stop coraline algae growth? What is the best UV sterilizer I can get for $100-$150?

Iv got one and Iv had itfor over a year and I have not had a problem with coraline not gorwing.

any more advice out there? I have one for and one against. I would like a few more suggestions before I decide. Anyone know of the best unit in the price range of $100-$150?

I bought the double helix 9 watt for about 120. Yes UV's will kill off good stuff that corals thrives off of. Thats why I add supplemental food. I shut the uv and my skimmer off for a few hours when I feed. However you said one for and one against. I think the majority of people wouldnt do one on a reef but with my year experiance with a uv on mine Iv had no problems.

Hi,
I have a 215 reef tank at home and the coraline drives me crazy, my UV runs almost all the time. The one I bought after a lot of research was the coralife unit. Hope that helps.

HEY LANDMEIER....
I HAVE ONE ON MY 125 FISH ONLY AND IT RUNS 24/7...
I HAVE TONS OF CORALINE GROWING EVERYWHERE,
IT HASNT EFFECTED MY CORALINE GROWTH AT ALL...
