wouldnt it still cure, since you can only kill them in the free swimming stage? i have heard yes and no on it

UV will only kill Ich in its free swimming stage when it passes through the UV chamber.
The catch is that the free swiming stage is alos the infectious stage. So if a free swimming parasite attaches to a fish that means it didn't go through the UV and the lifecycle continues.
The odds are against you that a UV will not kill all the free swimming parastites before they attach to a fish. Techanically it could slow down the infection process, but i've seen plenty of Ich in tanks with UV.

don't waste your money, I already using the 9w UV for a while, still got the ICH (see my other post 'Lession Learned...'). maybe the 9w one just not strong enough, but if you go with the 15w, they are too expensive to try and still may not do anything.
(but one thing they said, the UV should be able to control algea grow, but it seems like my algae benny do a lot better work and looks more interesting)
