vacation and a reef tank

I am planning on going on a vacation. It is going to be for 2 nights and well 2 days. We are leaving on Friday night and not getting back until sunday night. I have sps and lps corals in my tank, I dont want the water to evaporate and the salinity to go through the roof, so I was wondering if there was a way I could just turn the lights on for a few hours. Would that be ok? I just really dont want to loose any of my corals. I dont have a top off system yet but if any one has a really good idea for one I am all ears. Just wondering. Dustin

can you ask your lfs or a friend to come over and only add water? you may be fine without light, since corals go without sun if there's a couple cloudy days, but i wouldn't take the risk.

I cant ask a LFS but I could probably ask my brother to come over and add just water. I just dont know if he would forget or not. I would rather not depend on some one to remember if there is a way that I can get by with not having to do it.

You need to find someone reliable that can help you out. If not you won't be able to enjoy your vaycay and you'll be overly anxious to get home.

that is too true. I am in the process of trying to throw together a drip system that I can trust. It will be awsome. Not to expensive and it works like a charm. I have seen it work on a buddies tank. So I need to build it today so that I can test drive it for a week or two before I go on vacation.
Does any one on here have any ideas that I might be able to use?

When I go out of town I always turn my wet/dry off fill it up with water so you know it not going to over flow if the power goes out then turn it back on.I have left for a week like that with no problem

I have read a recommendation for these folks: Please do not post links to other BB or sites that are competitors of SWF.com

I use a 5g Kent AquaDose. It will keep my 125 level for about 4 days.
I fill my sump with a couple extra gallons before I leave and let it run a gallon or so low. This plus the aquadose keeps me in good shape for the 6 days that I'm gone for work.
