Vaccume or not. That is the question

I was told by LFS today that they NEVER "vaccume" the sand beds of reef tanks. I was told by different LFS to vaccume every other water change
so who is correct?

I do.. but only a little at a time. Takes out a lot of gunk but I'm sure it pulls out a lot of little critters too.

I don't, but I have a clean up crew to clean the sand....sand sifters (goby's) and lots and lots of nassarius and cerith snails...also some fighting conch's

i vacuum the sand every water change because i don't have anything in my CUC to clean the sand other than some hermits. I don't think I have enough sand for nassarius snails, though because I don't even have an inch. I would've gone bare bottom, but I like the look of sand.

I suck up big stuff...like food or big chunks of puffer poo, other than that I leave it alone. I don't stir up the sand much...try not to at all really.
