Has anyone ever had a Valentini Puffer? What did you think about him. On this web site it says he is compatible with coral but you have to monitor with shrimp. I want to get one and what to know what you guys think.
Thanks for your help

Sorry, I don't have the answer to your question, but I'm intersted too, I'm thinking of getting one too and am wondering about them. If you don't know though, you need to feed them shelled food to wear down their teeth though, or they will grow too big for them to eat.

I have a Valentini Pooff. I love him, like all Puffs they have there own personalities. My Puffah has a game where he likes to do "laps", swim back and forth, and if I look at him he'll slow down and look back at me real quick. I can look away and pretend that I am ignoring him, then look back, and he'll catch me watching again, and he'll slow down and look back. It's funny how his eyes move right back to catch ya lol. When I put some Turbo Snails in, he did eat them all over time, but the weirdest thing is he left 1, a big one. It's still in there and he doesnt touch it lol. I also have a HUUUGE Coral Banded Shrimp that I introduced about a year after I got my Puff, and Puffahz doesnt bother him one bit. Also have a hermit crab, and he doesnt bother that either. He eats everything, from Marine-S, to Formula Two, (he prefers the Marine-S), bloodworms, steamers, clams, mussels, silversides, etc etc etc.
I have heard that some of them can be unruly, so I guess its just the particular fish. I rescued mine from a LFS that is notorious for having crappy water/tank conditions for new fish. I got mine when it was small. I felt bad and took him home. My friend had already had the same fish for a few years, and I always liked it. Luckily mine, like my friends, isnt evil. When I did have a Maroon Clown, the Puff did nip at the clowns fins several times over a few months, but I kept yelling at him and pointing at him, and like a dog I guess he eventually learned, cuz he stopped nipping at Doink.

We just purchased one 2 weeks ago. He is doing pretty good in the tank and is adorable to say the least. He is pretty small, but I will say he is bothering our fire shrimp to a degree. He has bitten off some of his attenae....but not killed him, and last night he let the shrimp clean him.
He hasn't eaten any snails yet, as far as I can tell, we do have a lot of snails.
We are hoping he doesn't eat the fire shrimp, but we know it may happen.
Every one is going to be different with a unique personality. We may have to return ours if he becomes more of a pest, or give him to a friend of ours.

I have one too. He's in my 90 gal. I have never seen him nip at corals, crabs or shrimp. He was pretty small when I brought him home. When he was new to the tank, I did see him nip at snails that were crawling around on the glass but he has stopped doing that. I've had him for just about 8 months. Neat fish!! So far, so good.

My valentini is my favorite! They're a very personable fish. Mine has a very mild temperament and doesn't bother my snails, crabs, hermits, shrimp, etc. He will eat just about any food I put in the tank, but his favorite is shrimp.
