I think he was just kidding, Beth. Lol
I get bitten because I have Retics...plain and simple. Most of mine are mild mannered but I do have some problem children.
Not only that but I take in bad tempered snakes or ones that havent been worked with alot. With Retics, you'll always bleed. Lol
That Aussie Scrub Python, I just got, is definately possessed by satan, himself. Scrubs are notorious for being foul tempered and no amount of handling is gonna change that, most of the time.

I wonder why your pet reps bite? I have no problem with my snakes on the biting front. They never snap at me or strike out. I have been bitten maybe less than 5 times over the past 12 years and its always been just my mistake because they tracked on to me instead of prey while trying to feed them.
Do your reps normally act docile but you just get bitten by mistake, or are they more aggressive? Of course I do have what are considered mostly mild mannered snakes. And they do get handled by me a lot.
I never said i get bit little lady. In fact I wasnt being saracstic in anyway shape or form with my Male Retic being dog tame. I very much trust him 100% with anybody. I feed him with tongs never with my hand. He barely sees me from feeding day to the day after. I then handle him everyday until its feeding time again. Now Monitors. Well I dont trust them period. I had my hand bite by one. He tried to mangle it and I had to kill him to get him off.

I just bought some tongs to try out the dead prey thing. I doubt my spoiled boys will eat anything dead--ever. Maybe I'll pick up another pet gerbil to try scenting or something along those lines.
Those tongs are almost too heavy for me to wield!.
