how would the sand get bigger?! lol
it means that you are probably not done with your cycle yet, am i correct? in which case you shouldnt have snails. Because the bacteria that builds up and grows when your tank is cycled will hold the sand together and make that not happen so easily.

hmmmmm*ponders* how fine are we talking here?
like powder?
technicaly you can add live sand of a larger volume over the sand you have now. ALthough it will cause, once again, a sand storm, and quite a large one at that seeing how your sand already moves around so easily.
If you realy want to do it i would take out your fish and inverts and corals or such, put them in a subbermaid with adequate water flow and a heater if you decided to go that route.
is this sand made for aquarium use?

no i got it from HD it looks like the sand at the beach but a lil more sensetive when it is moved. it passed the vinegar test and was old castle sand

There will be some settling over time, and as bacteria grows it shouldn't be so bad, that sandbed is still maturing. I would consider double the size of sugar particles as rather large compaired to what I have.

i agree. double the size of sugar is pretty large......
has this been better than before? Cause i still do think that it is a bacteria level issue.

Doesn't sound like the tank has cycled. I've got 400 Nass. snails in my Southdown sand bed, 100 Ceriths, and 2 very large engineer gobies (1 is 6 1/2 inches). Needless to say my sand is always being dug up... never any sand storms..
