i have a 20L FT(frag tank) with a 10g sump/fuge....in just over 2 months im going to a frag swap convention...currently my tank is fine, really dont need a skimmer. but as i keep looking down at the sump, i want one more and more.
looking at the tank, it looks like a 20L nano, but in fact its only used as a frag tank.....
now my problem.....i want to add an in-sump skimmer to this system, however im not trying to over spend for it. so im not sure what skimmer is best for my situation and money....
again im looking to purchase a that will work well for this system for a reasonable price.....im not looking to buy some cheap thing that i could've bought another frag with, but i want something that will actually work and will help out the system (team)!

The "Nano" model series has been designed for the use in reef biotopes up to 200 litres (52 US gal.), and is gentle to the plankton in operation. The DOC Skimmer 9002 removes up to 80 per cent of organic waste matter, such as protein and cellulose, from the aquarium water. Very little space is required in the aquarium, and its handling is very easy.
On account of their construction, these models are particularly quiet during operation. On account of the high demands in stone coral aquariums, this skimmer should be used only in aquariums with about 100 litres (26 US gal.) of water. Mixed aquariums or soft coral aquariums up to 200 litres (52 US gal.) can be set up without any problems.
Delivery condition: Completely ready for mounting with holding device for vertical panes and horizontal glass tops up to 39 mm (1.5 in).
Principle behind the Tunze Nano Skimmer:
By means of the water jet of the Nano pump and a high-performance jet, a fine pearly air mixture is produced which is released into an easy-to-clean skimmer cup through a newly developed reflection system. The protein-containing aquarium water diffuses into the skimmer through the opening in the bottom and on the rear, which is gentle to the plankton, thus suitable in particular for breeding tanks with living plankton.

just did some research on the tunze nano skimmer...i like, got to be honest, i was trying to stay at or around 100.00....but i just mite pull the trigger on this, and get it around mid september. so i have at least a month and a half of skimmer time before the frag swap....

hahaha very true,,,im up in the air with this cause with having two very very small false perc clowns in the tank, normal water changes should be enough....but i was also looking into the air stone driven ones...im stuck

stone driven= waste of money. a couple more bucks and you'll have an efficient machine. waterchanges will do fine though.

i kno i dont need one, but i really feel like i shud get one. i have two very small clowns in this tank. then are about a 1/2" and smaller. so waste is not really a problem, but i think a moderate skimmer that will pull some waste out will be worth it, the problem is i dont want an overkill skimmer on this to where i have to add trace elements. but honestly i have that weird feeling that a cheap skimmer mite work...not going to buy a cheap one. but i think what a cheap skimmer would produce would be beneficial and not overkill.....

I cant speak for the tunze nano. But your fuge doesn't look empty.
You are going to be skimming trace elements regardless of what you do. Really with a 20l and a 10 fuge, get rid of the percs and just do water changes. Along with the fuge, you should be good to go. Possibly bumping up your fuge lighting to increase cheato production. If you wanted you could probably do a simple DIY skimmer. You got a maxijet layin around?
My son has the RIO NANO skimmer on his 10. It's better than nothing at all, but not reliable in any fashion......

i def have a maxijet. i was looking around at a DIY skimmer, but couldnt find any good directions...do you know how...i personally dont know anyone that would take the clowns..
haha na not empty but just looks like it needs something...i currently do a 5 gallon water change bi-weekly. is this a proper water change or what should my ratio be....
