I am sure this has been disscussed befor, but I have searched and searched and can not find what I am after. But anyway, I have a 45 gal fish only with one antinic white bulb. I looking at a vho 2 bulb or possibly 3 bulb retro fit kit. I would like to add live rock to my tank. I have a couple of questions.
1. What bulb combination do you all recomend?
2. Are there any heat issues with VHO? Do I need a fan?
3. They have a 48" and a 46 inch kit. The 46 would probably fit my tank better, How easy is it to get 46 inch bulbs?
Any
:help: would be appriciated .
thanks

Bulb combinations are really a matter of personal preference. I like an even ratio of 50/50 to super actinic. It gives a very crisp clean white apperance.
I run two VHO bulbs and I do not have any heat issue at all. In fact my heater still comes on when the lights are on. I think that a fan could help, but definitely not required.
The 46.5" bulbs will definitely fit better on a 48" tank. I dont know how difficult they are to find as I use the 24" bulbs. But I know that a lot of people use them so it must not be that difficult.
