Anyone that is currently or in the past has run one of these.. a couple questions for you.
1. What is the operating temp of the ballast? Does it run hot? I would like to mount it on my stand which is made out of wood. Don't want to burn down the house.
2. The 18" wires that come on the ballast, how did you extend them?
3. Anything else I should know or ask?
Thanks,
Paul

I run the ARO 4L 440 watt 4 bulb VHO setup. I mounted the ballast on the inside of my stand on the ******** wall and while it gets warm it is not a problem. It has been there for almost 4 years. I'm not sure how to extend the harness though. I know it is not the same model as the one you mentioned, just trying to help. Overall I like the ARO brand and have been using it for almost 4 years with no problems.

not that hot but I will mount mine with stand-offs of some kind so air can flow btwn the ballast and the wood. Maybe a nut, washers or some kinda rubber insulator haven't figured it out yet. I ran 18 ga wire from the endcaps down to the floor/ballast and just used wire nuts. I am looking to clean that up by using terminal strips mounted to the wood near the ballast. Haven't found suitable terminals yet. I need 16 wire strips. Hope this helps.

Mine only get warm to the touch. I have it mounted to the back of my canopy, right on the wood. I mounted the ballast close to one end of the canopy so that the leads can reach one set of end caps. I then mounted terminal strips on the canopy so that I could lenghten the other leads. I used 18ga wire for the extensions.

That Hellolights VHO ballast is just a re-labled Advance or Magnetic ballast and only does 2 lamps. If you want a cheap ballast just visit your local electrical supply distributor. I'm not real fond of a company that re-lables other companies products. How do you know what your even buying is made for what you're actually using it to do?

Sorry to hear that dapperdan.. probably should watch out for almost every company out there. I am sure that everything will be fine...heck my Plasma TV is a Gateway who just purchased it from Sampo and changed out the name plate.

My ARO, which is a Hello lights product is a 4 bulb 440w system. I'm not sure what you mean by the 2 bulb but mine has 4 bulbs. Some things I get confused about, but this I'm not
