I just a few days ago wired my new VHO's to an new canopy. There is a dimmer that is approved for use on an icecap ballest. The cheapest one is aboout $190.00 and dims over like a 1 hour preset period.
? Do you think it is very important to have?
I have 3 24", 75w bulbs over a 37gal. tall.
Thanks :D

I think the dimmers you are talking about are awesome! They are not essential, but toys of the hobby. The cheapest one you are talking about would benefit your corals to mimmick sunrise and sunset. If you have the extra cash, go for it. HTH--Bob

I have the Icecap-approved "Solar 750" on my tank. I have it wired to four VHOs on one ballast. It works as advertised, and I love it. I also have three more VHOs on another ballast that come on for 6 hours during the mid-day cycle to simulate noon sun.
It didn't cost 190 bucks, though. Check IceCapInc (dotcom) for some info.

I have been there and then looked at the authorized distributors. How long have you had yours? How much did you pay?

The Solar Series is out of stock everywhere, I was told by Champion Lighting they are re-designing them. They are made by Niche Engineering. I have been waiting and waiting!
I just spoke to Jason at Premium Aquatics this a.m. and he is still waiting, could be a day, or two, or ?? His price BTW, is $159.00 for the Solar 750. This series of dimmers are the only ones that are recommended for IceCap ballasts.
I just fired up by new VHO's this week. WOW! Viva la difference!!
Anyway, HTH. If I hear any further updates I will post them.

I also talked to them and they expect some next week. The reason the other site was cheaper is they sell the ground plain kit seperate, and Champion includes it. They are a better deal.
